The firm of Barrett, C.P.A., P.C. provides competent professional auditing, accounting, tax, and consulting service in a cost effective manner. J. Jeffery Barrett, Sr., a Penn State alumnus, was an auditor with the accounting firm of Arthur Andersen & Co., served as a senior financial analyst for Peabody International, worked in internal audit with Combustion Engineering, and held positions as MIS Director and Cost Control Manager for an international computer company, before forming his own C.P.A. firm in 1984, based in upstate New York.

The firm is actively involved in audit of HUD, FmHA, and State funded housing programs throughout eleven states, review of internal control techniques and compliance, new business start-ups, recovery of troubled companies, tax consulting and preparation, business acquisitions and dispositions, pension plan reporting and analysis, and special projects such as fraud audits, computer software review, computer programming, construction and other long term contract reviews, logistical and cost studies, as well as development of courses and training of other accountants.

The firm has worked with over 600 organizations throughout the U.S., Canada, South America, and the Caribbean. The firm's audit clientele includes housing authorities ranging in size from seventy to 4,100 units, local governments, other not-for-profits, and private business. The firm has assisted businesses and individuals with tax and financial planning, Federal tax returns, and state tax returns in twenty states. Mr. Barrett serves on the boards of several not-for-profit organizations.
